Postgraduate teachers stage stir for better pay KRISHNAGIRI: Postgraduate Teachers affiliated to Tamil Nadu Post-Graduate Teachers Association (TNPGTA) staged an agitation here recently to highlight their demands for better pay and social benefits in front of the Chief Educational Office in Krishnagiri. Association district president M. Prabhakar said that the anomalies in the sixth pay commission recommendations should be rectified as quickly as possible and the post-graduate teachers should be given salary on a par with the scale given for college lecturers. Besides, facilities availed of by the Central Government employees like Leave Travel Allowance and maternity leave should be extended to the post-graduate teachers too. The association also called for abolition of the contributory pension scheme introduced in 2003 and introduction of CPF. The other major demands included a separate directorate to look after higher secondary section exclusively and posting of a minimum of 10 additional post-graduate teachers for every high school that got upgraded into a Higher Secondary School, regularisation of PG teachers who were appointed on consolidated pay from June 1, 2006 etc. The teachers also demanded immediate withdrawal of “false cases” foisted against the Botany Teacher of the Immidinayakkanapalli. Mr. Prabhakar presided over the agitation. K. Cheran, President, Krishnagiri Education District of TNPGTA welcomed the gathering. Mr. K.
