Pension scheme for panchayat teachers: Nitish

Patna, Feb 12 (PTI) In a novel initiative, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced that his government would introduce pension scheme for teachers working in panchayat schools in the state.

"We will introduce pension scheme for panchayat teachers under the purview of the existing micro pension scheme for milk producing farmers in Bihar," Kumar told a function organised by the state social welfare department.

The cooperative milk producing farmers are liable for UTI micro pension, he said, adding, due to lack of coordination between the state Human Resource Development official and UTI management, the micro pension scheme for panchayat teachers was yet to be set in motion in Bihar.

He said he would soon hold a meeting with the officials of both the sides and find out a solution.
